Die Seiten laufen rückwärts.
Obwohl Casey mir schon erzählt hat, dass dieses Buch etwas ganz Besonderes ist, habe ich nicht damit gerechnet, dass sie das ausgerechnet so meint. Im ersten Moment war ich total verwirrt, aber ich bin froh, dass es genau so ist, wie es ist. Es ist nämlich richtig gut.
Die Geschichte erinnert mich in einigen Aspekten an das Spiel Heavy Rain - vielleicht kennt der ein oder andere es ja. Es geht auch darum, dass ein Serienmörder Verstecken spielt. Er stellt den Vater auf die Probe, wie viel ist er bereit, für sein Kind zu tun, wie wichtig ist ihm eine innige Beziehung zu seinem Kind? Doch beim "Augensammler" ist das ganze noch etwas heftiger. Vor allem, weil das Buch rückwärts geht und man eigentlich von Anfang an alles weiß, aber nichts damit anfangen kann. Es ist ein Meisterwerk, wirklich.

Als auch noch die blinde Psychotherapeutin ins Spiel kommt war ich restlos begeistert. Fitzek hat nicht einfach irgendwelche Blinden-Klischees ausgepackt, sondern sich wirklich damit beschäftigt. Alles bleibt glaubhaft und spannend. Ich weiß nicht, wann ich das letzte Mal ein Buch in wenigen Stunden gelesen habe, ohne dass es mir auch nur ansatzweise aufgefallen ist, bei diesem hier war es jedenfalls so. Ich würde es wieder lesen und ihr solltet das auch machen ;)

The "eye collector" doesn't leave any traces until a blind therapist who claims to be able to look into their patients past when she touches them. She is firmly convinced that she have treated him.
OPINION
The pages are backwards.
Although Casey has already told me that this book is very special, I haven't expected that she means exactly this. At first glance I was extremely confused but I am glad, that it is exactly like it is. It's really good.
The story reminds me of the game Heavy Rain in some aspects - perhaps one or the others knows it. It also is about a serial killer which plays hide and seek. He tests the father, how important his child is for him and how important an intimate relationship is. But with the "eye collector" it is a little more intense. Primarily because the book goes backwards and one knows everything from the beginning but can't do anything with the informations. It is a masterpiece, really.
As the blind therapist comes into play, I was completely enthusiastic. Fitzek doesn't simply take out some blind man clichés, but really tinker with it. Everything remains credible and thrilling. I don't know when I read a whole book within a few hours without even noticing it. I would read it again and you also should do this ;)
